My teens LOVE parks at night. Can I buy them different tickets than me? Will they need their own MyExperience accounts, or can we still use mine for overall planning, Genie+? We have Room only reservation. Thanks for your help!

Hi Tara! Thanks for coming to planDisney with your vacation planning question! As a mom to teens myself, I'm excited to chat with you about how to bring the magic to life for your teens this summer, including some tips and tricks for snagging some late nights at the theme parks! Let's get started!

Because you have a room-only reservation and not a vacation package, each member of your party can have whatever type of ticket will work best for them! When you purchase your tickets, just be sure to link the correct ticket to each person in your My Disney Experience account. To do this, each member of your family will need to have his or her own individual account, but you have two options for your teens' accounts.

Option 1 is to create an account for them as a managed profile under your own account. When you do this, your teens will be managed by you. Any Guest who is at least 13 years of age can also create his or her own My Disney Experience account, which is option 2. With this option, you can still connect to their accounts under Family & Friends to be able to share plans and manage their Genie+ selections. The benefit of this, especially if your teens may be visiting the parks without you during those late-night hours, is that they will be able to log directly into their own accounts to also make Genie+ selections, mobile order food and beverages, see their PhotoPass and attraction photos and videos, and have access to all of their plans, tickets, and MagicBand details on their own mobile devices. My girls are 13 and 16 and now have their own accounts, and they do enjoy being able to log in to check wait times and see our photos, and it also allows them to feel a little more independent!

Because you mentioned that your teens enjoy late nights, be sure to check out Disney After Hours events that are being offered at select theme parks throughout the summer months! I took my daughters to this earlier this year and we had an amazing experience! The wait times were minimal, the snacks were complimentary, and the atmosphere of the near-empty park was magical! We were able to ride so many attractions during this event with little to no wait! They might also enjoy H2O Glow After Hours at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park - an after-hours water park party!

Remember also if you happen to be staying at a Disney Deluxe Resort or a Disney Deluxe Villa Resort you will have exclusive access to Extended Evening Theme Park Hours at select theme parks on select nights! I just took advantage of this perk last night as a Guest at Disney's Contemporary Resort, and had a great time chasing some late-night thrills with minimal waits!

Tara, I hope this helps and I hope you and your teens have the best time making magic together! If you have any other planning questions, come on back and let me know! You've got a friend in me!
