My 2 teens are going to Hollywood Studios alone. In the Disney App they aren't able to purchase Genie+, since they aren't 18, and I have to do through my profile. Does same apply when they try to buy lightening lane once in the park?

    Hi Haley, welcome to planDisney!

Your Walt Disney World Resort vacation countdown is in the one-hand single digits - hot diggity dog! It looks to be a typical Florida summer forecast: hot, hot, hot with a chance of storms. Be sure to pack sunscreen, ponchos, and more suncreen. My panelist pal Ashley also recommends bringing an extra pair of socks to the parks because she's been caught with wet feet too many times!

The My Disney Experience mobile app is one of the most important mousketools for your park days. As you know, you log into the app with your My Disney Experience account credentials. Guests over the age of 13 may have their own My Disney Experience accounts, but only Guests over the age of 18 may add a payment method to their account. This means that teens in the 13-17 age range with their own My Disney Experience accounts are unable to complete any task that requires payment in the My Disney Experience app. As you mentioned, this includes purchasing Disney Genie+ service. It sounds like you already have a plan in place to make the purchase for the teenagers through your account. You can purchase Genie+ any time after midnight for anyone that appears on your Family and Friends list with valid admission and a theme park reservation. I recommend purchasing by 6:45 a.m. so the first Genie+ Lightning Lane attraction can be booked at 7:00 a.m.

Genie+ service will give your teens access to Lightning Lane entrances at 15 attractions in Disney's Hollywood Studios. As a summer bonus, Mickey and Minnie's Railway is categorized as a Genie+ Lightning Lane attraction instead of an Individual Lighting Lane attraction through August 7. After the initial Genie+ purchase is made, your teens will be able to book Genie+ Lightning Lane reservations themselves via the Tip Board of their My Disney Experience apps (three small lines at the bottom right of the home screen --> Tip Board). If they're interested in experiencing Rise of the Resistance as an Individual Lighting Lane attraction, that's an additional purchase that you must make for them through your account at 7:00 a.m.

Have you heard about the Disney PhotoPass lenses that come with a Genie+ purchase? Start experimenting now with the Lightyear photo that's complimentary until July 1 (three small lines in the My Disney Experience app --> Disney PhotoPass Lenses). Selfies never looked so magical!

Happy packing and safe travels to Florida, Haley. Please tell Mickey I say, "hi!"

    Plan magic; planDisney.
