Hi there, Angela - welcome back to
planDisney!
I'm always happy to see a fellow Ohioan swinging by with a question, let's get to it! MagicBands are a great way to
conveniently charge purchases to your Disney Resort hotel account. Being a registered Guest under a Resort reservation is the requirement to be eligible to link a payment method to a MagicBand, so that's what will need to happen for your teenage Mouseketeer.
If your teenage musician is staying at a non-Disney hotel, and the Disney Resort room you are staying in has capacity for another person, I suggest simply adding your teen to your reservation. Once they are listed as a registered Guest on your reservation, you'll be able to set up MagicBand charging privileges for them. If your teen is a registered Guest in a
different Walt Disney World Resort, you'll need to speak to a Cast Member at your Resort's Front Desk to see what solutions there may be, or you can visit your teen's Resort and have your credit card linked to them through their own room.
If there are any issues, an alternative option would be to purchase a
Disney Gift Card and load it into your teen's digital wallet on their phone. For example, I have a Disney Gift Card stored in my Apple Pay Wallet and it's easy to use it to pay at most locations at Walt Disney World Resort! Not quite as convenient as a MagicBand, but a potential alternative if you're looking to control spending a bit!
I hope this information is helpful -
please stop by with any additional questions as you continue planning for this exciting school trip!
