My teen is going with her high school band to Disney & Universal 12/27/13-1/1/13. My husband is going as a sponsor. Debating whether my 11 year old & I should go along, or travel seperately. Cost with band is $1100 each, includes food & travel.

    Hi, Jim!

To be honest, the price that you mention above is very close to what my high school students pay to go on their Senior Class Trip to Orlando. For us, it's a very cost-effective way to see Walt Disney World! Great deal.

Because the food is included, as well as the travel arrangements, I suggest that you just book right along with the band. When my seniors travel to WDW, we have a night or two where we use chartered buses, as well as a private dinner dance at a WDW venue, so the added convenience of being part of the group makes everything so much easier...and memorable.

If you and your 11-year-old can simply tag along, I'd do it. There is so much fun that goes on when you travel with a great group of kids that you've known for years, watching them all experience the magic that is Walt Disney World together, be it for the 10th time or the 1st time ever; you'll want to witness that first-hand, to be sure. Plus, your little one will feel that much more a part of the action; you'll be so glad that you all traveled together on this monumental trip with your daughter's high school band to Walt Disney World!

Have a magical trip, Jim! Be sure to send more questions as you think of them. I've traveled to WDW for 6 years with 350-450 high school students each trip AND I have an 11-year old; I'd love to help you navigate through this most wonderful opportunity to enjoy WDW together.
