My teen daughter has been seeing videos of kids walking with Disney Characters to the “cast members only” entrance when their shift is over and she she wants to do it too! Is this a special privilege or can she just ask to walk with them?

Hi ya, Kendrix! One of the biggest perks of a Walt Disney World vacation is getting to meet your favorite characters. Who doesn't dream of meeting Mickey and Minnie in The Most Magical Place on Earth!?

To my knowledge, Walt Disney World Resort doesn't formally set aside times when Guests can walk with the characters. Although it certainly does happen, it is more of a "being in the right place at the right time"  kind of thing. This is actually a more common occurrence at Disneyland Resort, where the characters roam around the Parks more. At Walt Disney World Resort, attendants keep the characters on strict break schedules due to the more intense heat. That being said, there are a few tips you can follow to have a magical experience.

I like to use the My Disney Experience app to check times and locations for characters throughout all four theme parks. Meet times and locations will vary by day, and the app is the best source for updated information. Just click on the teardrop-shaped location icon (it is the second one on the bottom of the screen), and you'll get a full listing, including times they will go on breaks. I'd highly recommend finding Gaston, as he loves to compare his muscles! Cinderella's stepsisters, Anastasia and Drizella, are equally hilarious. Although their location is not on the app, they can usually be found daily at the wall behind Cinderella Castle.

Another tip is to use FastPass+ for more popular character meets if they are offered. Although it will temporarily close later this year, the Epcot Character Spot is my favorite place to find Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy. Meeting Mickey Mouse at Town Square Theater in Magic Kingdom Park is another excellent choice, as is the meet and greet with Cinderella and Elena at Princess Fairy Tale Hall. Even though your daughter won't be offered the opportunity to walk with the characters at these locations, she'll get the chance to have some great one-on-one time, and the PhotoPass Photographers will be on hand to capture the memories!

I hope your daughter has some pixie-dusted moments on your trip, Kendrix!

Meet the Panelist: Eean, Pennsylvania

Hi, I'm Eean from Pennsylvania!  I may have an unusual name, but my passion for Disney is not unique.  It’s amazing how many people you can find who love talking about, "The Most Magical Place On Earth!"  I'm that mom who always has her ears perked at PTO meetings, in the grocery store aisle, or at middle school basketball games waiting for an opportunity to give someone a planning tip to help make their vacation even more magical.
