My teen aged son has Asbergers, is there any areas where he can calm down if he gets overwhelmed while we are visting?

    Hello Amanda,

As the Mother of a child with Sensory Processing Disorder, I have also had to find "calm" areas where we can take a break from the hustle and bustle of the Theme Parks during our visits. There is so much to see and do that it can become overwhelming at times. Here are some of the quieter areas inside the Theme Parks that have worked for our family:

    Magic Kingdom Park:
Tom Sawyer Island ~ Grab a snack and take a ferry over to Tom Sawyer Island and enjoy the scenery, shaded areas, and picnic tables.
Columbia Harbour House ~ The second floor of the Restaurant is usually a great place to escape the crowds, and you may be able to get a window seat with a great view of Fantasyland and Liberty Square.

Future World ~ Head over to Future World and take a nice easy (and educational) boat ride on Living With The Land.
World Showcase ~ Toward the back of Morocco Pavilion I have almost always found a place to relax and get some down time with my daughter.

    Disney's Hollywood Studios:
With all of the exciting changes taking place in the Park, it may be a bit more difficult to find a quiet spot but, I've always found the benches around Echo Lake offer a comfortable place to take a break. They're near the center of the Park so, once you’ve rested, you can head on your way to the next Attraction.

    Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park:
Pangani Forest Exploration Trail and Maharajah Jungle Trek are shaded and in my experience, less busy than other areas of the Park. You can also take in a performance of Finding Nemo - The Musical. The show is amazing, and a great way to sit and enjoy some down time (and air conditioning) while in the Park.

I hope this information helps in planning your visit!

    Magical Wishes,
