Hi team, I hope you are doing well. We are planning to go to Disney World Orlando from August, 5 to 7, and we saw that theme park reservation are required to enter. How can we do it ? We will receive an email in order to do it ?

    Hi Dylan!

I’m doing very well, thank you so much for writing in with your kind words and a great question for our team! You’re correct in that theme park reservations are now a bare necessity and required to visit the four theme parks of the Walt Disney World Resort. I’m happy to talk through it with you and help you understand what to do next so that your vacation plans fit together like a perfect puzzle.

Theme park reservations are simply a way to indicate that you plan to visit a certain theme park on a set day during your vacation. You are eligible to make these as soon as you have your tickets, so I recommend you purchase those if you haven’t yet and then secure a theme park reservation for the same number of days on your ticket. You can do this smoothly by logging into your Disney account and purchasing theme park tickets on the Walt Disney World website. During that process, it should prompt you to make these associated reservations. If you aren’t sure of your plans yet, you can purchase tickets and revisit the website to make the critical theme park reservations later. If you purchase a Park Hopper option with your tickets, you just need to make a reservation for the theme park you plan to visit first on those days when you may hop to another later in the day.

For example, if I purchase a three-day theme park ticket, I can then make reservations to indicate I plan to visit Magic Kingdom Park on Monday, EPCOT on Tuesday, and Disney's Animal Kingdom on Wednesday. If I have a Park Hopper ticket, there’s nothing further I need to do and I can hop to another theme park on those days after I’ve entered the first one as planned.

Once you make these dated reservations you may modify them as plans shift, but it’s important to set them up as soon you can in advance of your trip. If you arrived at a theme park on the first day of your vacation without a theme park reservation, you could not enter by scanning your ticket and would have to visit Guest Services to have this added. It’s rare, but a theme park can sell out of some reservation types on certain days which is why it’s advised to book them before you travel.

Please know this step is in place to help best manage your experience in terms of crowds and availability of features such as Disney Genie Service. It’s just a few clicks and a straightforward process once you have your ticket, and poof! You’re ready for an amazing vacation.

Please let us know if there’s anything else we can help with to help you make the MOST of this amazing visit! I hope you have a fabulous trip, with special memories made.

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Amy
