Hi team! We’re due to embark on Disney Magic 28-May from Barcelona. Our daughter is 3 and has Down’s syndrome and refuses to wear a mask. She has a medical exemption letter from her doctor, does that mitigate the need? Thanks for your hel

Greetings, and welcome to planDisney, Neil, we thank you for your excellent question!

Your sailing from Barcelona, on the first ship in the fleet, the Disney Magic is just around the corner, how very exciting this is! Neil, as a parent of a child with special needs myself, I feel I can somewhat understand your predicament regarding travel and all the logistics therein.

In referring to the updated Disney Cruise Line - Know Before You Sail resource, I found in the On the Ship section mask requirements for Guests, and I hope that you find a bit of relief in that masks at this time are not required in outdoor, onboard areas, as well, the wearing of masks indoors is highly recommended with the exception of areas such as Disney Cruise Line Youth Activity Areas, the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Disney Cruise Line motor coach transportation where masks must be worn, and some ports of call may require the wearing of masks depending on government regulations (subject to change). Kindly refer to the Disney Cruise Line - Know Before You Sail resource continuously and even 24-hours prior to sailing as the content may be updated.

Neil, in preparation for your sailing with your daughter, I invite you to peruse the Information for Guests with Disabilities or Medical Conditions Guidebook for the array of services that will be available, as well as the concise Services for Guests with Disabilities and in particular, the paragraph Children with Disabilities provides information regarding the Youth Clubs and group babysitting services onboard.

For any questions or further details regarding your voyage in consideration of your daughter's needs kindly contact Disney Cruise Line Special Services:

    Phone: (407) 566-3602
    Fax: (407) 566-3760
    TTY: (407) 566-7455
    Email: SpecialServices@disneycruise.com

Lastly, Neil, please complete, 60-days prior to sailing the Disney Cruise Line Special Services Information Form (optional) to indicate whether your daughter will require additional considerations and accommodations during the voyage.

    Tips:
If you haven't already done so, Neil, I invite you to complete your Disney Cruise Line Online Check-In to select your Port Arrival Time and complete the necessary documentation.

Download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App to manage your plans before and during your sailing and apprise yourself of the daily events and activities onboard and much more!

I hope this information is helpful to you, Neil, it was my honour to be of assistance and I wish you the most magical adventures on the Disney Magic!
