Why hello Laura, welcome back aboard planDisney!
I hope that you're getting excited as the day draws near for your first-ever
7-Night British Isles Cruise from Southampton with Silver Anniversary at Sea! You're absolutely right that scheduled programming is subject to change between sailings and also that the
variety of films currently on board the Disney Dream is also subject to availability and may be different by the time of your voyage without prior notice. Based on my personal experience from one point in my career at sea, I was responsible for scheduling the films shown in advance from a limited selection that are periodically sent to ships in a set package (with the exception of
special movie premiere events at sea that occur in conjunction with a film's release on land). I'm happy to lend a bit of my insight along with the current information available to Cast Members for this particular itinerary:
At the present time, this is the currently available selection of films on board that are showing at the
Buena Vista Theatre:
- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (PG-13)
- The Little Mermaid (Live Action) (PG)
- Elemental
- Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (PG-13
- Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania (PG-13)
- Avatar 2: The Way of Water (PG-13)
- Encanto (PG)
- National Geographic: Making the Wish: Disney's Newest Cruise Ship - (PG)
- Peter Pan & Wendy (PG) (Disney+)
- Secret Life of Elephants: Episode 1: Desert (PG) (Disney+)
- Secret Life of Elephants: Episode 2: Savanna (PG) (Disney+)
- Strange World (PG)
Generally you can expect films to be shown within the Buena Vista Theatre on a constant rotation from early in the morning until well past midnight, with the exception of times when the space is being used for things like private group functions, crew-only events or training.
It's also important to note that the films listed on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App shown on Funnel Vision up on deck are from different sources but from my research of the selection on board the Disney Dream this summer you may be able to watch films such as Big Hero 6, Tinker Bell, Muppet Treasure Island, Toy Story, The Little Mermaid and even Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl just to name a few.
Programming what will be shown on board involves a very meticulous and detailed process that includes calculations based on the runtime and rating of each film, so there tends to be very little variance from the schedule; therefore I highly recommend looking ahead as soon as you're able on Embarkation day so that you can plan around the things you'd like to watch. In the meantime, I look forward to seeing your questions here again at planDisney in the future!
Here's to enjoying some fantastic flicks on a big screen on the open seas!
