How much tax should I expect to budget for when it comes to things like the lightsaber build or the droid building? And I guess all around gift shops.

Hi there, Tanya. Welcome to planDisney

Are you getting so excited about your Walt Disney World vacation next spring? It will be here before you know it! That's such a fun time the visit. The weather is sunny and warm, perfect for afternoon swims which is one of my favorite things to do at Walt Disney World Resort Hotels. They have great pools!

Tanya, the tax is based on percentages. Walt Disney World is a large spread-out property and actually spans two counties. Each county charges its own sales tax rate. Depending on which county you are in when you make the purchase you are looking at either 6.5% or 7.5%. This is for merchandise locations and restaurants around the Walt Disney World Resort property. Knowing the tax rate is so smart to be able to budget for your purchases on your upcoming vacation. Great question!

Another great way to budget for Walt Disney World vacations is with Disney Gift Cards. With the holidays coming up, they make great gifts for friends and family to gift you and the other people visiting Walt Disney World. I like to pick up small ones here and there when I grocery shop. It doesn't add a lot to my bill but I am always so amazed at how quickly they can add up.

I hope this helps, Tanya. If you have more questions, please feel free to stop back by and ask me

    Happy planning!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
