Taping of the Christmas parade will be going on during my stay at WDW on Dec. 6 & 7. I'm not really interested in watching the parade. Would it be best for me to avoid the Magic Kingdom these days? Will the ride times be greatly affected?

    Hi Megan!

Yes, typically the Walt Disney World Christmas Parade is taped during the first weekend of December. I have been in the Magic Kingdom at least four years before when the Christmas Parade was being taped and I can tell you that the rides and attractions in Magic Kingdom were still all open and the lines were not long. I would not recommend avoiding the Magic Kingdom during the Christmas Day Parade taping because it actually is a great time to experience the rides and attractions of Magic Kingdom due to lower crowds and shorter lines.  It is a little more difficult to make your way down Main Street USA during the taping, but it is not impossible because there are walking lanes that are keep open so that Guests can get down Main Street USA to the rides and attractions of Magic Kingdom. I typically walk through the Emporium and then through all the stores on the left side of Main Street USA (all of the stores are connected and exit through Casey's Corner). This is a great way to avoid the crowds on Main Street USA at any time of year!

I hope that your next Walt Disney World vacation is truly magical in every way!

    Keep Dreaming Big!
