Tanya, we're coming to Disney with 4 teens. One evening while they're at DisneyQuest, my DH & I are thinking of trying Atlantic Dance Hall. On prior  trips we went to 8trax. What kind of music do they play at Atlantic? What is age of crowd?

    Hi Lydia!

Thanks so much for writing!  My hubby and I used to love hanging out at 8trax at Pleasure Island what seems like a million years ago, pre-kids and pre the clubs closing.  My New York-born husband is a huge fan of 70s disco!

Atlantic Dance is a great alternative for an evening out, and in fact, is actually a much more impressive venue (in my opinion, of course!)  First, it's huge and absolutely beautiful, with balconies that overlook Crescent Lake.  It features an "art-deco" style ballroom with twinkling lights.  The music is a mix of popular hits from the 80s and 90s for the most part.  On some nights, the DJ plays music videos to accompany songs on huge screens in the hall.

This club, like those that used to be located at Pleasure Island is 21 and over.  As for the age of the crowd, the few times that I've been there I was happy to notice that it was considerably older than "the kids" (ha, can you tell I feel old!) that used to hang out at Pleasure Island.  Most of the people I saw were in their 30s and 40s and probably had children hanging out either at a child care facility, with an in-room babysitter or at Quest with your kids!

I suggest hitting one of the fabulous restaurants in the Boardwalk Area before heading over to Atlantic Dance.  We love Flying Fish Cafe at the Boardwalk and Il Mulino at the Swan & Dolphin.
