Hello Moms....We're still talking about our trip in September, looking mostly at Moderate Resorts. Are we pulling hairs with Pt. Orleans-Riverside vs Pt.Orleans-French Qtr. Is one better than the next? Does one offer better restaurants/pools/activities?

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for stopping by with another question for us. Your trip in September will be here before you know it, so let's get started. Port Orleans is a wonderful resort with so many options. The French Quarter resort is quaint and not as spread out as Riverside. The rooms are elegantly appointed and as if you are staying in New Orleans itself. I prefer the pool at French Quarter since it's theming is more fun, in my opinion and you don't have to walk as far to get to it. On the flip side, French Quarter doesn't have a full-service restaurant whereas Riverside has Boatwrights Dining Hall. Both resorts offer a food court for quick service and grab and go eating.

Riverside has two different sections, Alligator Bayou and Magnolia Bend. Alligator Bayou buildings are rustic and have a feeling of just that, being in the bayou. These buildings surround Ol' Man Island, the recreational area with pool, play area and fishing pond. These rooms tend to be a bit small, in my opinion. Over on the Magnolia Bend side, the buildings are themed to look like Antebellum plantations of the deep south. They have a little bit of an elegance and serenity to them. This is also the location of the "royal rooms" where Disney Princess animation comes to life as you are a guest of Princess Tiana in these rooms.

So, it could be a little like "splitting hairs", but with either choice you will have a wonderful experience and your choice should be based on your needs or wants. I hope I was able to offer some information to help in that decision.
