Hello Moms. DH & I are taking our 5 1/2 yr. old twin girls to DW 2/16-2/23 2010. I have researched & still can't decide between POFQ or CBR. My kids love swimming, playgrounds & having lots of fun. Any thoughts from you experienced moms is app

    Holly:

    It's a tough call.

I just got back from a trip to Port Orleans: French Quarter and loved it!  The theming was elegant French Quarter; the campus wasn't spread out; and the strolls by the Sassagoula River--scenic.  It's biggest leg up over Caribbean Beach Resort is its boat ride to Downtown Disney, another avenue of fun for your girls.

Caribbean Beach Resort's ace in the hole, though, is its pool which includes a fun water-play area.  The French Quarter's sports a slide, but the pool area is looking a bit tired, in my opinion. However, you have girls who may not be taken by the pirate theming at CBR...additionally, CBR has multiple stops on its bus routes from the theme parks; POFQ only does for Animal Kingdom when it shares the route with its sister resort, Riverside.  And fyi: If you're looking at the pirate rooms, I had friends stay in a pirate room at CBR and, although the rooms rocked the theme complete with woodplank flooring carpet, my friends weren't happy with the bed mattresses (which is sad, because the boat beds are so cute)!

Remember: this vacation is for you, also.  Make a list of things that you want to experience on the vacation as well.  Your children may not remember the resort or the pool, except with the prompting of pictures, later on.  If the weather is warm enough for the pool, Caribbean Beach Resort will be wonderful.  But my guess is that the boat at French Quarter may be more memorable.  Either way, I don't think you'll come home with buyer's remorse.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
