I am taking my 8 yr old daughter and 2 yrs old son to Walt Disney world for Christmas this year since my husband is deployed . Can you Tell me if the resorts do anything special on Christmas eve for the kids? We are staying at the caribbean beach resort.

    Hi Virginia,

First of all, please accept the gratitude of the entire Moms Panel for your husband's service to our nation.  We are indeed grateful for the service of our men and women in uniform and the sacrifices of the families they leave behind to serve.

The Walt Disney World resorts go out of their way to decorate for the holidays.  On Christmas Eve, I would highly encourage you to take your children on a free self-guided tour of the deluxe Disney resorts situated along the monorail near the Magic Kingdom.  You could start off with dinner at Chef Mickey's in Disney's Contemporary Resort, then enjoy a walk on the beach and a tasty dessert at Capt. Cook's in Disney's Polynesian Resort. Then cap off the tour with a stop at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort to admire the life-size gingerbread house.  It's gorgeous!  As you travel from resort to resort, take in the sights and sounds of the holidays at each stop.  You'll have so many great places to take holiday photos of your children.  This plan makes for a low-cost, magical evening.

If you want to know what your home resort has planned for Christmas Eve, stop by the Guest Services desk at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort for a schedule.  Or, you could call the resort directly at (407) 934-3400 in early December.  By then, they will have the resort's activities calendar in hand and will be able to share with you the list of activities for December 24th.  (When I called on your behalf this morning, they only had the November 2011 schedule available).

Best wishes for a vacation sprinkled with extra pixie dust this holiday season!
