We are taking our 4 year old and 1 year old on a disney cruise. We will need to bring their car seats with us. We have a car seat dolly that we attach the car seat to and wheel it around. Is the dolly something that would be prohibited and conviscated?

    Ahoy there, Kaitlin!

Welcome aboard planDisney! I’m so glad you sailed by with this question—traveling with little ones is a true adventure, and it sounds like you’re already charting a smart course for a smooth and magical voyage. With a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old in tow, I know your hands (and hearts!) will be full, so let’s make sure you’re ready to roll—literally—when it comes to bringing along that car seat dolly.

First, you're absolutely on the right course thinking ahead about gear. Car seats themselves are permitted onboard, especially since many families need them for travel to and from the port or while exploring ports of call. And as for your car seat dolly, while it's not specifically mentioned in Disney Cruise Line’s prohibited items list, there are a few things to keep in mind.

If your dolly is collapsible or can be stowed away easily in your stateroom, it’s very likely to be permitted onboard. Just like with collapsible wagons (which are allowed), the main concern from Cast Members is safety and storage. That said, final approval is always up to the Port Team at the terminal. If the dolly looks bulky or could pose a hazard, they may ask you to leave it behind and retrieve it after your sailing. It’s rare, but it can happen—so I always recommend having a backup plan just in case.

Embarkation day can be a whirlwind of excitement, so here’s a tip from one parent to another: pack a small “first day” bag with swimsuits, sunscreen, snacks (prepackaged), and any essentials your kids might need for a few hours. Your checked luggage may take some time to arrive at your stateroom, and having a few key items handy can help keep your little sailors happy while you explore the ship. Many families also find that lightweight strollers are much easier to maneuver through the ship’s hallways than bulkier gear. Plus, they fit nicely inside your stateroom closet or under the bed!

I hope this helps make your embarkation day a dream worth wheeling! You’re going to love watching your little ones experience all the Disney magic—from splash pads to character greetings to that first bite of a Mickey ice cream bar.

Sea ya real soon with a June full of sun, sea, and shipshape adventures,
