We are taking my 10 year old niece WDW for the first time later this year. We always do the dining plan when we visit, however, this time is different. My niece has juvenile diabetes and we are wondering about what dessert/snack options will be available.

    Hello, Mary,

Thank you for sending your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  It sounds like this will be an extra special trip since you'll be sharing it with your niece as she experiences her first trip to Walt Disney World.  As a guest who will need to make Special Dietary Requests, Walt Disney World does a wonderful job accommodating those needs.  Your niece should be able to find different sugar-free snack and desserts options throughout the resorts and theme parks.

To help with your planning, I'd take a look at the independent website DisneyFoodBlog.com and do a search for Dining With A Special Diet in Disney World and Disneyland. Furthermore, if you do an internet search for Diabetes and Walt Disney World, there are many different blogs and articles with advice and thoughts from other guests and their experiences of visiting Walt Disney World with Diabetes.  I have to also give a shout-out to our own Disney Moms Jacqui who wrote Visiting Disney World With Type 1 Diabetes for the independent website TouringPlans.com.

Wishing your niece a magical trip first trip!  Please let us know if we can help with any further questions.  -Kara
