hi! I am taking my 4 year old and 18 month old boys on their first Disney trip in October and we are staying at the Bay Lake Towers. do you have any suggestions for first timers?

    Hi Maria Angela,

My family and I love Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort! Spend some time at Bay Cove Pool, which has a zero-depth entry. There is also a nearby splash area which your little ones will likely enjoy. When you arrive at the resort, be sure to look at the recreation schedule for the resort. You might find activities on it that appeal to your children, such as chalk art at the pool or crafts at Community Hall.

One of the best things about Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort is the proximity to Magic Kingdom. It is the only resort from which you can walk to Magic Kingdom! You can also take the monorail right from Disney's Contemporary Resort. I suggest walking if you do not mind a five-to-ten minute walk. You will probably want to take the monorail sometimes, so be aware that from Disney's Contemporary Resort, you will stop at all of the other monorail resorts on your way to the Magic Kingdom. On your way back from the Magic Kingdom, Disney's Contemporary Resort is the first stop.

Here are a couple of tips for your first visit to Walt Disney World with little ones. If your children still nap, try to maintain their nap schedule. We did this when our daughter was younger, and it made for a much happier little girl, and by extension, much happier parents! Even if your 4-year-old does not nap, it might be a good idea to take a little down time in the middle of the day. This will probably make him more well-rested to enjoy activities later in the day. Also, even if your older one walks everywhere now, consider a stroller. There is so much walking on a Walt Disney World vacation that most preschool-aged children do better with a stroller as an option.

I would love to help you plan your vacation more, Maria Angela; however, I am limited in the space that I have to answer. Please do write back with any further questions that you may have!
