I am taking my 7 and 5 year old kids to Disney World for the first time. We are only going for 1 day and plan to visit the Magic Kingdom. What are the top 3 things I should know/do to get the most out of our time there and have a good experience. Thank you

Hi Mikhail! Welcome to planDisney! This is such a fun question to answer! I am so excited to hear that you'll be visiting for the first time!

Let’s begin with when to start your day at Magic Kingdom Park! Because the kids are young, I recommend beginning your day early! The Disney Parks calendar currently indicates that Magic Kingdom Park will open at 9:00 AM on the day of your visit. Seven and five-year-olds might have a hard time lasting until closing time, so get them into the park early when they are wide awake and have energy!

Another tip that will help your day run smoothly is to consider purchasing Disney Genie+. This ticket add-on allows Guests to have a window of time to return to an attraction with a reduced wait in the line. This will allow you to skip the traditional standby line which can often be a lengthy wait, especially for little ones. You can purchase Disney Genie+ beginning at midnight on the date you wish to use the service. You can then make your first Disney Genie+ attraction selection at 7:00 AM.

Because we’re talking about little ones, be aware of the height requirements for the attractions in Magic Kingdom Park. You don’t want them getting overly excited about TRON Lightcycle / Run or Space Mountain if they aren’t tall enough to ride. Rather, turn their attention to rides such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan’s Flight, Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid, the Barnstormer, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Mickey's PhilharMagic, and many other attractions.

Finally, Mikhail, ask the little Mouseketeers what they are most excited to do. Let the kids look at the website for Magic Kingdom Park. You'll see and hear them get excited about certain attractions! Add those attractions to your "must-do" list!

Mikhail, I hope these tips are helpful as you plan for a special visit to Magic Kingdom Park! Please come back to planDisney to ask more questions! We’re happy to help!

    Dreams do come true!
