We are taking our 9 year old granddaughter to castaway cay in July and would like to find a place with a little shade by the water. Do you have any ideas.

    Hello Stuart,

You're granddaughter (and you) will absolutely LOVE Castaway Cay!  It's beautiful and SO much fun!  It's my hands down favorite port.  I suggest you get off the ship as early as possible to stake a claim at one of the umbrellas that are set up throughout the island.  They fill up quickly, but they are wonderful for some shade close to the water.  I've also seen some Guests take small, pop up tents with them to the beach for the same purpose.  If you can pack it in your luggage, go for it!  I have one that's UV proof that works well.

I hope this helps.  Please let me know if there is anything else that I can answer for you.  Thanks for visiting the Moms Panel.  Bon voyage Stuart!

Magic Kingdom still takes my breath away, but my favorite place to be is on a Disney ship looking at the horizon and breathing in that crisp, clean ocean air!  I love planning Disney vacations for others and making sure it's more than they dreamed. Learn More About Marisol
