Hi there! We are taking our 5 year old girl and 7 year old little boy on their first disney vacation in february. We ate starting to make dining plan reservations. Any advice on where to take them for the best dining experiences?

Hi Emily! First Walt Disney World visits are so very magical. Enjoy every second with your children and make sure to pick up a First Visit button from Guest Services. I still have my son's First Visit button from his first time at Walt Disney World when was 2 years old.

For us, the food is one of the best parts about Disney. We love trying new places each time we go back, but we also make sure to save room for our favorites. We usually plan for one Character Dining Experience per day so that we save time waiting in line for characters in the parks and also have a nice sit down meal. Here are some of our favorite Character Dining Experiences:

*Chef Mickeys- With a fun and energetic atmosphere, this is usually our first night's meal. Plus, you get to meet the Fab Five! The buffet has many different options to choose from and the dessert selections are amazing. It's a perfect kickoff to a vacation.

*The Crystal Palace- My son loves his Winnie the Pooh bear, and he loves getting a hug at breakfast from the real Pooh when we dine at The Crystal Palace. The food is great, and if you schedule a before-park-opening reservation you can take a family picture in front of Cinderella Castle in an empty park!

*Tusker House Restaurant- If your family has an adventurous palate, you will love the African inspired food here. Also Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Daisy, and Minnie will all come around to visit you in their Safari gear. We love the theme and the fun menu, and the characters are just the icing on top.

Here are some non-Character Dining experiences that we love:

*Kona Cafe- Macadamia-nut pancakes are so amazing.
*Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant- The details here are amazing, and the steak is out of this world.
*Teppan Edo- The delicious food is made table side.

Im running out of space, but if you need anything else, please let us know. Have a magical first Walt Disney World vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Sarah, Indiana

I am a recent graduate from Ball State University and mother to my 5-year-old son. We love all things Disney and when we aren’t watching Disney films or planning our next vacation, we love to go to touring Disney shows. I also love to cook, listen to music, read books, and paint. With my experience planning vacations and navigating the parks from a single parent’s perspective, I hope to be able to add a little “pixie dust” to your vacation! Learn More About Sarah
