We are taking my 2 year old for his very first Disney trip in July (yay!) and our inlaws are coming with us so they can stay with the little guy one night. Our first night there will be Saturday which should be a good night - any suggestions??

    Hi Erica,

My husband and I also had our daughter's grandparents come with us on some trips. It's wonderful to have the extra help - and especially to get an adult night out!

When my husband and I got to go out for an evening at Walt Disney World when our daughter was younger, we really enjoyed going to a nice restaurant. Of course, nearly every restaurant at Walt Disney World will have children at them, but when you are dining as adults only you can take as long as you like and focus just on yourselves. Restaurants that we have gone to on or date nights include Citricos at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Jiko at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, and Flying Fish Cafe on Disney's BoardWalk. Any of these restaurants have wonderful food and great atmosphere, and you can really take your time and enjoy a great meal.

Another idea for your evening out is to take in a show. Your little one is probably too young to appreciate fully appreciate Cirque du Soleil - La Nouba, located at Downtown Disney. It is truly amazing. A great night could include a meal at Wolfgang Puck Grand Cafe in Downtown Disney followed by seeing La Nouba.

One final idea: for one night, my husband and I realized that we had not been to a theme park without a child in years. We decided to just head out in our shorts and t-shirts and go to the Magic Kingdom. We had a wonderful time riding what we wanted to (and what our daughter was not yet tall enough to!) in the order that we wanted. That night, as our log crested the big hill on Splash Mountain, the fireworks from Wishes Nighttime Spectacular went off in the sky. I remember that night as magical, amazing, and fun.

Whatever you decide to do on your night out, Erica, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time. I hope this gave you some ideas, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
