I am taking my 3 year old to Disney for his b-day and was wondering which Disney Deluxe resort is the best (convenient, food and room quality). We are looking into the Animal Lodge (for the animals) and the Gran Floridian?

    Great question, Ana!

At first glance, I wasn't sure whether to lean towards the Animal Kingdom Lodge or the Grand Floridian for your visit as I'm very fond of both resorts. After reviewing your criteria, I would definitely recommend the Grand Floridian.

    Here's why:

Convenience! When traveling with a small child, the Magic Kingdom is the park of most importance to many families. The Grand Floridian offers easy access via monorail or boat to this magical park. Your family can easily return to the hotel for mid-day breaks (naps!). The Animal Kingdom Lodge is close to the Animal Kingdom but a good distance to the Magic Kingdom.

Food! The Grand Floridian offers a 24-hour quick-service food location, Gasparilla Grill. There are also more kid-friendly eats at some of the restaurants including character meals at 1900 Park Fare. Animal Kingdom Lodge has more exotic dining.

Room Quality! While families differ in their needs, the Grand Floridian's rooms are larger than the rooms at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Rooms will also offer a daybed which small children sometimes enjoy sleeping in at night or for naps.

And you can always visit the Animal Kingdom Lodge to view the animals and tour the resort!

    Happy Birthday to your son!
