We are taking our 4 year old daughter for her first trip to Disney in May for her birthday. Should we do the meal plan? We have two meals with characters already reserved. She doesn't eat a whole lot, just snacks so I wasn't sure it would be worth it?

    Hi Kimberly,

I think you will have a better value if you purchase the Disney Dining Plan that includes 1 table-service meal, 1 quick-service meal, and 1 snack per day.  My reasoning is that usually character meals are charged a fixed price per adult or child and not by the amount you eat/order.  Even though your little one may only snack, you will still be charged the child's meal price at any table-service character meal.  Therefore the Disney Dining Plan can be of great value to you because the child's cost per day for the Disney Dining Plan is about the same, and in several cases less, than the price of one of the character meals alone.  So for families with young children like mine who enjoy dining with the characters, the Disney Dining Plan offers a lot of value.

As an added bonus, if your daughter isn't hungry enough to use her snack credits then you may purchase items with your leftover snack credits to take home!  I love purchasing Mickey crispy treats to take home with us.  That is of course if I don't eat them myself before we leave.

In addition to the great value of the Disney Dining Plan, I especially love having the bulk of my vacation food prepaid.  Except for tips and the occasional turkey leg, the Disney Dining Plan covers all of my family's food expenses so I can enjoy just being on vacation instead of watching my food budget.

I hope this information helps you with your decision Kimberly.  Thank you for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel and be sure to let us know if you have any further questions.

    Blessings,
