We are taking our usual trip to WDW end of sept 9/26 for a week. We go because the lines are short and its beautiful weather. This year we are using the dining promotion - and I cannot get a reservation anywhere - does that mean the parks will be crowded

Hi Theresa!  The wonderful free dining offer this fall at Walt Disney World will more then likely add some to the crowds at the parks.  However, although you are having more difficulty getting dining reservations I don't think the crowds will be so bad that you won't enjoy your time.  Many of the guests are trying restaurants that they normally would not have used during their vacations and thus the reservations are hard to come by now.  It still goes that when kids are in school the parks will be less crowded no matter what kind of offer is out there!
