We are taking our two sons ages 6 and 9 for their first time from August 10-15 We are limited to visiting during the summer months this year, but I'm fearful that it will be too crowded and hot for us to really enjoy our vacation. Any thoughts?

    Hi Kris,

I went to Walt Disney World this past August and yes, it can get very hot, but you may also be lucky enough to get a nice breeze and instantly it seems to get comfortable.  I don't know why this is, but it always seems much hotter inside the parks (more enclosed I think) and we seem to do fine if we take breaks.  Go back to the hotel mid-day (when it is hottest), have a swim and a rest, then go back early evening when it gets cooler, this seems to work fine for us (more manageable).

One more tip:  We always seem to get the semi-heatstrokes mid-day when watching the parades, so we tend to stay away from doing this until the late afternoon or early evening parade times, also be careful not to constantly go in and out of the airconditioning, this is why most people who live there end up getting Bronchial infections (this has happened many times to me).

Just have fun, be smart and take it easy, you will have a great time (even in August).
