Kala,
Your first trip to Walt Disney World will be so memorable, especially since you and your kids will be experiencing it for the first time together!
To answer your question, there is not an attraction where your son can "laser fight" a Star Wars character, however, you are in luck. The
Jedi Training Academy at Disney's Hollywood Studios may be right up his alley and it is included in your admission to the park, there is no extra fee for it! There are specific times when 12guests, ages 4-12, are chosen for each of the different "training sessions". I suggest you get there early at park opening where a queue is formed outside the ABC Sound Studio. If you son is chosen, you will be instructed on the time you need to report back for the show. All guests are welcome to watch the shows throughout the day! Even if he isn't chosen (it is first come, first served), it is fun to watch. It is one of my son's favorite shows at Walt Disney World.
You could not have picked a more perfect time to take him there!
Star Wars Weekends are happening May 17th-June 9th, so he will be in Star Wars heaven. Tons of special events and shows occur during these weekends, such as celebrity autograph sessions and Hyperspace Hoopla, a rockin' good time with lots of favorite Star Wars characters.
There is also Star Tours, a thrilling 3-D motion-simulated ride through the "galaxy far, far away". You can also find some very unique Star Wars merchandise (some that is exclusive to the Disney Parks) as you exit the ride in Tatooine Traders. You can even create and purchase a customized light saber!
You're young Jedi should have a lot to look forward to and "may the force be with you"!
