We are taking our two daughters ages 8 and 6 to DW Oct 3-11. Any tips or new experiences we need to make sure we do while at Animal Kingdom? We've done AK before, but didn't really enjoy as much as the other parks so any suggestions are welcomed! Thanks!

    Hi Jason,

I hope you had smooth travels to Walt Disney World today and have settled in for an awesome week ahead with your family!

Disney used a marketing campaign a few years back that featured cast members greeting you with the phrase, "Nahtazu". At first, it appeared to be a meme similar to Hakuna Matata. As the commercial continued, you were taken to all corners of Disney's Animal Kingdom and you saw that it was clearly "not a zoo." Pretty slick, huh!

While the signature attractions (e.g. Kilimanjaro Safaris, Expedition Everest, etc.) are absolutely amazing, there are so many lesser-known experiences that guests sometimes overlook. Here are a few of my favorites:

    #1 - The Oasis Exhibits

Upon entering the theme park, guests are usually so excited to head toward their favorite attractions that they blow right past the animal and bird exhibits that can be found on this lush tropical path. Plus, you can find cast members stationed throughout the path that are showcasing animals, birds, reptiles, or bugs that you can interact with.

    #2 - Rafiki's Planet Watch

Hop aboard the Wildlife Express Train and you'll find a wide variety of hands-on experiences and encounters related to animal conservation.

    #3 - Shows

While you may already know about Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo - The Musical, there are host of other shows like Gi-Tar Dan and Flights of Wonder that often fly under the radar. (Sorry, I couldn't resist!)

Here's a bonus tip from your buddy Derek:

If you walk carefully on the path between Asia and Africa, you may see crowds gather around rustling branches. If so, slow down as see if you can catch a glimpse of DiVine (a live character that blends into the scenery).

I hope that helps and I hope you enjoy your visit to Disney's Animal Kingdom!

    Best regards,
    Derek
