We are taking a "just because" trip at the end of Sept. I would love to surprise my family with a special cake from Disney. I know there are different ways to order cakes and a ton of cake choices. How can I simplify this process?

    Rebekah:

A "Just Because" trip!  A custom cake would be the icing, well, on the cake for your trip!

When it comes to choosing a cake, I'd first make a call to the Disney Cake Line at: 407-827-2253.  Let them know there's no special occasion, the number of people you are feeding, the location where you'd like it to be delivered (a restaurant vs. a resort) and your budget.  Whatever you do, just make sure you give them at least 48 hours notice from the time you need the cake.

If you have a certain character or Disney theme in mind, you may want to share that upfront.  They can do almost any Disney theme but seem to be limited when it comes to Pooh and Pixar characters.  They'll take it from there, guiding you through shapes (round, sheet, or custom), cake and icing flavors, and even fillings if you'd like!

Even though I've tried some of the more elaborate fondant cakes that run in the hundreds of dollars, in my opinion, one of the best values is the Mickey head cake presently for $45—best of all, it tastes delicious!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
