We are taking a trip to Disney for 10 days in July. I wanted my kids to do the Pirates League. Is this something I should make reservations for now, or can I wait until the week b4 we go? How long does the process last? Thanks so much!

    Hi, Michelle!

The Pirates League, located in Adventureland at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom Park, is a swashbuckling experience for boys, girls and even adults who want to get decked out like a pirate for the day with some help from Captain Jack and his crew.

Guests are given an official pirate name from the captain’s log before being escorted to the Muster Station where veteran pirates from the League make them into fearsome pirates. There are five makeup options to choose from to create a “First Mate” or “Empress” pirate look: Cursed Pirate, Captain Hook, Captain Jack, Blackeyed Jack or shimmering make-up. The experience also includes a reversible bandanna, earring, eye patch, temporary tattoo, removable teeth for First Mates, and striking make-up, nail polish and face gem for the Empresses. To complete the pirate persona, buccaneers learn a few moves from Pirate Masters and are presented with a sword, sheath and pirate coin necklace. Then they’re sworn in with a personalized pirate oath and led to a secret chamber to discover surprise hidden treasure!

The current cost for a visit is $29.95, but full pirate costumes, hats and portraits can also be purchased. The process takes 30-45 minutes and once their transformation is complete, scurvy mates are invited to march in the Parade of Pirates in Adventureland. July is a busy time at the theme parks and The Pirates League is a popular experience, so I do recommend making reservations soon by calling (407) WDW-CREW or (407) 939-2739.

I hope this helps, Michelle. Please feel free to ask me any other questions you may have as you continue to plan your Walt Disney World adventure!

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
