Hello Karen, welcome to planDisney!
I’m so glad you brought your question here today, travelling to Walt Disney World Resort with little ones is a lot of fun but definitely goes smoother with some planning. My family has been going to Walt Disney World Resort since my girls were toddlers (and babies) and along the way, we’ve learned about activities and experiences that are catered to their ages. Let’s take a look.
My family has made great use of our Disney Vacation Club Membership over the years and one thing we’ve really loved about the DVC resorts are the amenities and programming for kids of all ages. Our daughters usually make a beeline for the
Community Hall to see what’s new - one of our most recent trips was extra fun travelling with my niece and nephew (toddler and preschooler) as our girls had the opportunity to share the magic with their cousins. The Community Halls have so much to offer whether it’s complimentary crafts (making bead bracelets and necklaces has been a family tradition since our girls were preschoolers), coloring pages, games or even sitting and enjoying a movie. We’ve interacted with dynamic Cast Members who are always fantastic at connecting with kids - they are so welcoming!
Located at the DVC Courtyard and next to the
Disney’s BoardWalk Villas quiet pool, the Ferris W. Eahlers Community Hall is a wonderful place to explore. Its hours are from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily and is a great place to relax, do some crafting or partake in a variety of video game stations, board games or outdoor games. Just outside the Community Hall building, you’ll find a BBQ grill area as well as the fire pit where nightly
campfires are held. The Cast Members offer marshmallows for roasting which was always a highlight for my kids.
If water play is something your kids enjoy, head to the Luna Park Pool where they can participate in fun programming by the pool - there are often dance parties, relays or trivia games hosted by Cast Members. Next to the pool, you’ll discover a small fenced kiddie pool with ample lounge chair for adults. You’ll also discover a
playground with two play structures with slides and other climbing apparatuses that are perfect for younger kids to enjoy while being active.
Disney’s Boardwalk Villas is a fantastic place to rent a 4-person
Surrey bike that’s perfect for a family outing. Some of the bikes have seats in front of the drivers for the little ones - they will have a great view of Crescent Lake and the Disney Skyliner gondolas passing overhead.
Tip: Be sure to grab a schedule of the week’s activities from the resort’s Front Lobby. It will note the activities available in addition to the times and location.
December is a wonderful time to travel to Walt Disney World Resort. I love spending time wandering through the resorts and enjoying the Christmas decorations that often complement the resort’s unique theming. Our family especially loves looking at the gingerbread displays at the resorts in the BoardWalk area, they are incredible!
Karen, I hope this information helps with your vacation planning and gives you an idea of some activities your family will enjoy. If you have any other DVC or planning questions, please
let me know!
Enjoy making magical memories,
Candace
