Hello! We are taking our three children ages 7, 5, and 2 to Disney for the first time this May! I was wondering if anyone had any unique ideas on how to tell the children we are going? I want it to be special and memorable for them from start to finish!

    Hi Amber,

How exciting that your first family vacation is in the works!  I've surprised my children in the past with trips to Disney by telling them absolutely nothing until the morning we left!  I woke them up, asked them how they'd like to spend the day, and then suggested brainstorming some good ideas.  We'd get suggestions like, going to the park, or the movies.  I'd thank them for their suggestions and then tell them that I had a better idea, like going to Disney World!  They looked at me as though I was a wee bit crazy, but within minutes, my kids were jumping up and down!  On other occasions, when they did know a trip was planned, we created a family "count-down" calendar, and decorated it with Disney stickers as we counted down the days to our magical vacation.  Finally, one trip, I told them I had a surprise planned, and made them go on a treasure hunt throughout our house and collect clues that ultimately lead to the "grand finale," a giant sign that said, "We're going to Disney World!"  All three ideas were very memorable and helped us jump start a fantastic trip!
