Teens in the parks

Taking my teens (16/18), I used app to plan resort/meals/fastpass etc. for all. When there I will want them to have app for wait times, ordering food etc. What are pros & cons of all 3 of us using my MDE account vs them creating own & linking now?

Hi, Lisa! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

The My Disney Experience mobile app is an essential tool for each of my family’s Walt Disney World Resort vacations, and it’s been quite beneficial for my husband and I each to have our own My Disney Experience accounts but share our Family & Friends List. For your teenagers, this might be a good way to allow everyone to have a say in the planning, but it’ll also depend on how you plan to use the app while you’re there and whether or not you want your teens to have a form of payment associated with their own accounts (for Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering, for example) or whether you would want them to use yours.

If you currently have your teens listed under your account, though (and you’ve already linked their tickets and booked their FastPasses), you might want to consult the Frequently Asked Questions about My Disney Experience before you have them create their own accounts (just to make sure nothing glitches in the process). Otherwise, they would be able to install the My Disney Experience mobile app on their own smartphones and use your credentials to log in. My cautions with this method would be twofold, though: first of all, if you have a credit card linked to your account, then your kids will have “purchasing power” for Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering and for making dining reservations (at certain locations where prepayment is required); secondly, you might experience some glitches if the same person is logged into multiple devices and tries to make adjustments to FastPass+ reservations.

If you still aren’t quite sure which option would be best, I would encourage you to reach out to the My Disney Experience tech support team using the Walt Disney World Resort phone directory.

In the meantime, please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help you as you plan your next Walt Disney World Resort vacation.
