Hi Lisa! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel - and welcome to the Sunshine State!
Taking a daytrip to Walt Disney World is a definite perk of living in Florida. For my son's second birthday, we spent the day in the Magic Kingdom experiencing all his favorite attractions and enjoying his favorite snacks. One extra-special thing we did was to make a reservation for lunch at The Crystal Palace, an all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet where your little guy can meet Winnie the Pooh and Tigger too (and Piglet, Rabbit and Eeyore, of course!). We noted on our Advanced Dining Reservation that we were celebrating a birthday, and our server brought out a cupcake with a candle for his dessert. There's no guarantee that they'll do this for you, but in my experience Cast Members will do their best to do something special for the birthday boy.
You can also pre-order a birthday cake to be delivered right to your table. Designs range from a simple round to as fancy as you like!
While you're in the park, be sure to stop by Guest Services and pick up a "Happy Birthday" button for your little guy, and he'll receive warm birthday wishes all day. Also, if your son will wear a hat (mine won't!), you might consider buying him a special birthday Mickey-ear hat from The Chapeau in the Town Square area of the Magic Kingdom.
I hope this gives you some ideas for celebrating your son's big day at Walt Disney World, Lisa. Stop back by if you have any more questions. We love to help families make magical memories!
