I am taking my son for his 10th birthday to Disney World. He is really interested in animation. I know that Art of Animation offers animation classes, but was wondering if there are any special tours we could do that would be interesting for him. Thanks

    Hi Tamara,

Thanks for visiting Disney Parks Moms Panel!

It's great to hear your son will celebrate his birthday at Walt Disney World, and it's even more cool to hear of his interest in animation. Like Walt Disney himself said, “It was all started by a mouse.” That mouse, of course, is our favorite animated pal Mickey. Speaking of birthdays, did you know Mickey himself is celebrating his big birthday this year!

Once upon a time, Disney's Hollywood Studios offered a tour of its animation building. That was a fun tour I'll bet your son would have enjoyed. Currently in Disney's Hollywood Studios, you can tour Walt Disney Presents, an attraction celebrating Walt Disney himself and featuring a wonderful collection showcasing his breakthroughs in animation, film, television, and theme parks. Another attraction of interest to aspiring animators is Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival in Epcot.

As a Disney animation enthusiast myself, I love reading books about Disney animation. The "Art of..." series is a great way to study how our favorite animated characters grew from concept to sketch to animated film. You can often finds these books in merchandise locations like Mouse Gear and World of Disney at Disney Springs Marketplace.

    Enjoy your Disney!

Meet the Panelist: Jerry, Pennsylvania

The playful and creative optimism of all things Disney has enthralled me since I was a kid. I loved watching "The Wonderful World of Disney" on Sunday nights, seeing all the live-action and animated classics in theaters, and — of course — visiting "The Most Magical Place on Earth" for the first time 45 years ago. These days, the big kid in me still loves to play Disney. As a long-time Disney destinations vacationer, I'm looking forward to helping you play Disney starting here at planDisney!
