Will be taking my parents to DL for 1st time. Been to WDW 3 times. Planning Oct/Nov 2012. Want low crowds due to my father's anxiety. For planning, how do DL crowds compare to WDW? And is the week of Halloween super busier than the week before or after?

    Hi there Sarah,

I completely understand your concern.  We are in the same boat, as we are planning a trip with my father who was involved in a motorcycle accident a few months ago.  Although his injuries have seemed to heal, he is still in a lot of pain and he has some anxiety as well.

Disneyland crowds are different than those of Disney World, because Disneyland is much more compact in size.  Because of this, it is advised to visit when the crowds are at a low.  In October, I suggest visiting during the first week (1-7), before the Columbus Day Holiday visitors hit, or in the week prior to Halloween week (22nd-28th).  The week OF Halloween will be extremely busy since many guests will be arriving to experience Mickey's Halloween Party and the holiday attraction layover on Haunted Mansion.  The weeks prior to and following Halloween will experience lower than normal crowd levels, and are great times to visit as is the second week of November.  After that second week, the Thanksgiving crowds begin trickling in!   Please note that Disneyland receives a large percentage of local visitors, so the weekends tend to be busy!  If you can plan your stay during the week, the crowds will be lower!

Also wanted to mention that it would be a good idea to stop by City Hall in Disneyland or Guest Relations at California Adventure to discuss the concerns regarding your father's condition!  They will be able to offer solutions to ensure your Dad has the most magical visit possible!  It may be helpful to bring any documentation that can help them better understand his needs in order to provide the best assistance!

    Best Wishes,
