Hi there, Debra!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!! I have yet to sail on a
Panama Canal itinerary, but hear that it is simply the best! My family will be taking the Disney Wonder Eastbound through the Panama Canal later this fall and I am thrilled to finally experience it and mark it off my bucket list! If you haven’t sailed on a longer Disney Cruise Line vacation before, you are in for a treat! There are always some additional activities such as scavenger hunts and organized events that make it SO fun! I am so excited for you, too, to experience it!
The
Port of San Diego is very close to the San Diego Airport (approx. 5 miles), so transfers after disembarking shouldn’t be difficult, barring any traffic issues! Disney Cruise Line recommends that flights be no earlier than 11:30AM on disembarkation day, so you may want to plan with that in mind. On the morning of your disembarkation, you will have a scheduled breakfast in a main dining room (time and location to be given to you by your dining room servers on the last night of your sailing) or in Cabanas buffet restaurant and then you will wait until the ship has been cleared for Guests to disembark. They request that all Guests be off the ship by 9:00AM so that Cast Members onboard can get the ship turned over for those Guests embarking later that day.
You are going to have such a magical and WONDERful adventure cruising with Captain Mickey through the Panama Canal! I love repositioning itineraries because you get to start somewhere and end in a completely different location! It really puts it into perspective how far you will have traveled during those two weeks at sea!
Happy Sailing!
Stephanie
