Hi, Krystal!
I’m so happy to hear you’re planning a vacation to the
Disneyland Resort with your family this summer. Your visit will be here before you know it, and there is so much excitement awaiting you at “The Happiest Place on Earth!”
Giving your kids clues is such a fun way to add to the excitement of a Disney Parks vacation. Since they are older and savvier investigators than young children, you might have to make your clues a bit more obscure to keep them guessing. I suggest creating a scavenger hunt around the house that leads to general travel items that won’t give away your destination in the beginning. As the weeks go on, the clues can get more specific. Give them hints about places like New Orleans, Marceline, Missouri (Walt Disney’s hometown), the Old West, Hollywood, outer space, Route 66, and other locations that inspired parts of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. For the final clue, lead them to a suitcase, which you can fill with Disney balloons, travel pamphlets, or the free Disney Parks vacation planning CD that can be requested online to bring all the clues together!
I hope this helps, Krystal, and that you have a wonderful visit to the Disneyland Resort. Please write back with any other questions you may have as you continue to plan.
Wishing you magic,
Courtney
