Hi, I am taking my mum to Disney for the first time, we are booked into the Carribean Beach Resort, however we have been told that the main pool will be closed. Should we consider moving to another Disney resort and if so are there any you recommend?

Depending on the time of year you are traveling and if you would want to take advantage of the main pool, then I would change resorts.

The construction around a pool rehab can often look unsightly as well. We were at the All Star Movies once during a pool rehab and looking at a temporary wall around the pool was not nearly as pleasant as staring at the calming water.

If you would be just as happy at the quiet pools, then it might work out for you. I know the quiet pool in the Jamaica section was very nice. However consider that the quiet pools will be more crowded due to the closure of the pool at Old Port Royale.

I would also recommend Port Orleans French Quarter. It's another moderate hotel but on a much smaller scale. It's one of our personal favorites. The boat transportation to Downtown Disney is very convenient.

For a larger resort, Port Orleans Riverside has elegant buildings in the Magnolia Bend area. For a more tropical atmosphere in keeping with the Caribbean Beach, try Coronado Springs.

I hope the trip is wonderful and let me know if I can help further.
