Welcome back to planDisney Megan! Thank you so much for stopping by with your question. These trips create such lasting memories, and I’d be happy to help you sort out the details with
My Disney Experience and MagicBands so everything runs smoothly for your family.
You don’t need to delete your dad’s profile. When you first created it under your account, you became the manager, and that’s why your mom can’t control things like his
MagicBand. Once your mom set up her own My Disney Experience account, she could connect to his profile, but the system doesn’t automatically transfer over management of bands or tickets.
If your dad is going to use My Disney Experience himself, the best option is for him to create his own account. Disney can then merge the managed profile you set up with his new account so that he has full control over his MagicBand and plans. If he isn’t going to use the app, it’s easiest to leave things as they are, with you managing his profile and your mom still being able to include him in plans even if she can’t directly manage the MagicBand.
MagicBands don’t actually need ongoing management once they’re linked, so as long as his band is assigned to his profile, it will work fine. Deleting the profile isn’t recommended because it could cause issues with tickets or reservations that are already attached. It’s always smoother to merge a profile later if needed.
I hope this helps you feel prepared to manage your family’s My Disney Experience accounts and MagicBands. With your special trip ahead, you’re sure to make memories that span generations and last a lifetime. Thank you again for bringing your question to planDisney, and I’m wishing you and your family a vacation filled with joy, connection, and plenty of pixie dusted moments together!
