I am taking my mother to Disney for the first time. She is 82 years old. Very healthy. Likes alot of atmosphere, but not food that is too spicy. What restaurants do you recommend. We are at the Polynesian

Hi Anna! Im so excited that I got this question to answer for you as I just took my own mother who is 87 years old for an incredible Disney vacation this past December. She still talks about every little detail of the trip and hopes to return soon. I chose restaurants that were interesting but the menu was not too foreign. She loved Teppan Edo in Japan at Epcot as they cook in front of you and you have some great basic choices with meat, chicken and fish. I also recommend the Yachtsman Steakhouse for the best steak dinner on property. Closer to the Polynesian are two great restaurants with one being Citricos in the Grand Floridian resort and the other California Grill at the Contemporary Resort. Both offer basic continental menus and the California Grill offers nighttime Magic Kingdom fireworks viewing on an outside balcony area if you don't get a window table. Citricos has a lovely setting and it was easy for my mother to get in and out in her wheelchair. Our favorite dining spots in the parks were as follows: Magic Kingdom: Liberty Tree Tavern Hollywood Studios: Brown Derby (must get the Cobb Salad!) Animal Kingdom: Flametree Barbecue for quick service and Yak and Yeti for table service (this does have spicy offerings on the menu so you will need to check with wait staff) Epcot: Japan as mentioned, Via Napoli in Italy (best pizzas on property), and Coral Reef (she will love watching the fish swim by as you dine) We also loved Fulton's Crab House in Downtown Disney and Portobellos has a great Italian menu in that location. These are just some of the super choices you have but these are ones that my mother loved and had a full menu of options that set well with her dietary restrictions. Have a great time....and let me leave you with a suggestion that you book a fireworks cruise for either Illuminations in Epcot or Wishes in the Magic Kingdom as this wiill be a treat for your mom to see these great shows with the best viewing possible.
