Hi Michelle,
Thanks for visiting planDisney, it’s great to see you here again! Your upcoming trip sounds like so much fun – I've taken a few “momcations” with girlfriends and it’s always a special time together. I’m happy to help you make the most of your time by understanding transportation logistics around the sprawling
Walt Disney World Resort.
My friends and I also love to park hop on these mom-only vacations. It’s nice to plan the day around what we want to do for a change, as it's typically the children who are prioritized on a traditional family trip. Park hopping lets you pick the favorite attractions, dining, and entertainment at each theme park and then head to the next one when you’re ready! Yes,
bus transportation is available between theme parks, but this can vary depending on where you are - please confirm with a Cast Member if you're unsure as it can also vary with weather and capacity conditions on any given day. You’ll find the bus bays at the main entrance of all four theme parks and just look for the one labelled for each theme park when you’re ready.
Within the
My Disney Experience App, there is a handy guide for transportation that I like to use to make decisions among transportation methods with when navigating my way around. Find this by clicking the three lines
(≡) on the main menu tray of the app and scrolling down to select the
Transportation tile. From there you can see an overview of the various options available. At any time in the app, from either the transportation page or from a specific destination page, click
Get Directions. You can then enter where you’re heading and see real-time guidance of your options and anticipated time to arrival. This is great for deciding to take the monorail or the boat, for example, if multiple options are available for any given destination.
If you’re hopping with friends, I suggest mixing up your transportation to vary the day. Without a stroller in tow, you are more flexible to hop on the best method for you! I love taking the
Disney Skyliner between
EPCOT and
Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or the
Disney monorail from EPCOT to
Magic Kingdom Park. The many methods of transportation make the Walt Disney World Resort so unique and offer varied views of the gorgeous scenery as you go.
Please let us know if you have other questions as you finalize plans for this special trip, Michelle. Some of my favorite Disney Parks memories have been with the girls, away from our families and just enjoying ourselves in the theme parks. I hope you can relax and enjoy this special time together as a perfect escape and refresh.
