When taking the magical express back to the airport do we need to be on it 3hours early. I would hate to wait at the airport for 3 hours with an 18mo son and my autistic brother for such a long time. Does anyone know how this works. Thanks!

    Hi Dana,

Yes, the Magical Express does pick you up approximately 3 hours prior to your flight time. The bus will stop at several other Disney resorts on the way to the airport, which takes up some of that time. The lines for bag check and security at Orlando International Airport are notoriously long and sometimes, even with the 3 hour window, I have found myself with barely time to sit down at the gate prior to boarding.

Speaking of the bag check lines, you'll definitely want to utilize the Magical Express bag check at your resort so you can avoid that line at the airport. Here is how that works:

Disney offers a fantastic "Resort Airline Check-in Service" which may work for you. If you're departing domestically on a designated airline, you'll be able to receive your return boarding pass and check luggage at your resort, bypassing airport check-in completely. Simply visit the Resort Airline Check-In Desk located at your Walt Disney World hotel up to 3 hours prior to your flight departure time. A valid government issued photo I.D. and your hotel room key are required to participate.

Resort Airline Check-In Service is available with the following airline carriers:

    • AirTran Airways
    • Alaska Airlines
    • American Airlines
    • Continental Airlines
    • Delta Air Lines
    • JetBlue Airways
    • Southwest Airlines
    • United Airlines
    • US Airways
You'll want to note that the Airline Check-In Desk closes at 1:00pm. Your bags will need to be checked at least 3 hours prior to your flight time and before 1:00pm to participate. One really handy thing is that they have a luggage scale so they can weigh your bags for you and if you're over the 50 pound limit, you can move things around to prevent the hefty fees for going over.

Hope this helps and have a wonderful vacation,
