We are taking our kids to Disney World for the first time, and while we are creating LOTS of magical oportunites for them we want some vacation time/romance for mom and dad. Are there any suggestions of places to go on a night when our kids are not with us

My husband and I always squeeze in time for a date night during our Disney trips, Charity, and they are always a lot of fun!  One of our favorite hangouts is Jellyrolls at Disney's BoardWalk.  It's a dueling piano bar (singing along is totally acceptable) and is always entertaining.  If you'd prefer something slightly more refined, perhaps a visit to Cirque du Soleil is in order.  That show combines acrobatics and beautiful costumes and moving, live music; it would be perfect for date night.  If you're looking for something really romantic, you might consider a horse-drawn carriage ride at Port Orleans Riverside.  The grounds there are gorgeous and the resident piano man who performs on select nights in the lounge is so much fun to watch. Call 407-WDW-PLAY for reservations for the carriage ride. Lastly, you might consider going totally unconventional.  During our last trip, my husband and I did a "monorail tour" during which we hopped off at each of the three monorail resorts for a drink (or half a drink, in my case) in the resort's lounge.  We ended the night on the beach of the Polynesian, watching the fireworks with a tropical drink from the Tambu Lounge in hand.  It was definitely one of the most memorable, impromptu activities we've ever had the pleasure to experience.  Whichever you choose, enjoy your time alone; you've earned it!

Given your inclination to plan a magical trip, I can already tell we have a lot in common. I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
