Hi! We're taking our 3 kids to Disney in May '11. We have the free dining - are there alternatives to the kids menu choices? As a nutritionist, I'm not thrilled with them eating chx tenders & mac&cheese at every meal for 10 days. Just curious! Tha

    Hi Christy,

I won't lie to you, there are a lot of children eating chicken nuggets and mac and cheese at WDW, but the menus offer a lot more.  During dinner you can find children meal options that include salad, soup, grilled fish, grilled chicken, grilled steak, etc.  You will find macaroni and cheese sometimes, but more often there is a cheesy turkey macaroni on the menu.  It is ground turkey served over noodles with marinara sauce and sprinkled with cheese.

The counter service establishments often offer choices like turkey sandwiches, ham and turkey wraps, peanut butter and jelly, hamburgers, etc.  With most counter service meals you get two sides.  You can get carrot sticks, grapes, unsweetened applesauce, or french fries.  The beverages offered include milk, soy milk, juice, water, or fountain drinks.

If you haven't been to WDW in a while, I think you will be surprised by the number of healthy choices.

    Enjoy - Michelle
