We will be taking our kids ages 9, 7, and 3 for their first trip to Disney in Jan. 2012. Which deluxe or moderate resorts offer the most (swimming, dining, activities) for these ages?

    Hi Lisa!

With regards to swimming, the best Disney Deluxe Resorts are the Beach Club and the Yacht Club.  That's because they both share Stormalong Bay, which is the best pool at Walt Disney World.  It's divided into 3 sections and it is a sand bottom pool (and even has a sand island for your littlest one to play on and build sand castles).  It has an amazing water slide for the older children and there's even a smaller water slide for the youngest.  It really can't be beat.  When we stay there, my boys, ages 12 and 7, would love to spend the entire day in the pool!  The Beach Club and Yacht Club also have excellent dining options all around thanks to their location on Crescent Lake; they are also within walking distance of great dining at Epcot.  After those two, I would say the Animal Kingdom Lodge is the next best.

A lot of Disney Moderate Resorts have great pools, but my favorite Disney Moderate Resort is Port Orleans Riverside.  It has a great pool and playground. You can also rent bicycles and water craft there.  In fact, Port Orleans Riverside has boat service to Downtown Disney which is a nice and relaxing way to get there.  I especially love the Alligator Bayou section of the resort, as I love the theming and landscaping.  However, there are not as many dining options at Riverside compared to the dining at Beach and Yacht Clubs.

Good luck with your decision and write back if you have any more questions!
