We will be taking an impromptu FIRST EVER visit to WDW next month! My 4yo DD and I have been invited by a friend's family. We will only be there for a few days...What are the 'musts' and cheaper/free activities available? We are planning 1 full day @ MK.

What a fun treat, Christina!  And a great question, too.  One of the great things about Walt Disney World is that there are so many options to accommodate various budgets.  Once you step foot inside the park, you'll only pay for extras like food and souvenirs; with very few exceptions, the attractions and entertainment are free with admission.  Outside of the theme parks, there are a number of free and inexpensive things to do, too.  Take, for example, the fountains at Downtown Disney.  Your four-year-old might enjoy playing in them.  Downtown Disney also has a lot to see and do; simply stroll along and you'll be treated to a feast for your eyes.  Another fun freebie at Walt Disney World is the live entertainment at Port Orleans Riverside in the River Roost Lounge.  He's family-friendly and such a hoot to watch!  Other free entertainment can be found at Disney's BoardWalk in the way of street performers.

I also suggest that you google the search term "Free Must Do at Disney World" for some additional suggestions.  Good luck!

Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
