Hi Cynthia, and welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
Your grandson is going to have the most wonderful first visit to Walt Disney World this summer! I have such a soft spot for the classic attractions like
Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Peter Pan's Flight; they are perfectly magical, especially when flying with someone you love so dearly. I’m so excited for you to experience that magic with your loved little one.
I am right there with the older children in your group: clowns are a big no-no for me. No thank you, no ma’am. When Storybook Circus first opened, there was indeed a whimsical troupe of clowns known as The Giggle Gang who would perform daily near the Big Top. I remember the day my family was sitting on a bench enjoying Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars when suddenly the clowns appeared. I played it cool for my kiddos, who actually really loved the cute show inspired by the clowns in the Dumbo movie, and I have to admit I thought they were quite funny and not at all scary. Having said all that, I’m here to set your mind at ease, because I confirmed with a Cast Member that the clowns have taken their show on the road, though they may return some day.
Cynthia, while you're in Storybook Circus, make sure you visit Pete’s Silly Sideshow, where you can meet Donald Duck and pals in their fantastic circus attire (no clown costumes in the bunch). It's a great photo op and a chance to grab a delicious circus treat at Big Top Treats in the center of the tent. Also, don’t miss the phenomenal standby queue at Dumbo the Flying Elephant, where children enter a magical Dumbo-themed play area where they can play while waiting for their ride. It’s so much fun my children often don’t want to leave when it’s time to fly!
Wishing you a magical vacation and your grandson the perfect first visit,
Robyn
