Hi, we are taking our grandchildren to WDW next March. They are very excited about building a Star Wars droid and a light saber. What will these devices do once we are back home? Thanks!

Hi, Kathie!  Or as they say on the planet Batuu, "Bright suns!"

I am so excited to hear that you are planning a grand adventure with your grandchildren!  Your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is sure to be one of galactic proportions since you will be visiting Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.  Currently, Savi's Workshop - Handbuilt Lightsabers, Droid Depot, and Oga's Cantina are accepting reservations up to 180 days in advance.  If you have not already done so, be sure to book reservations for your crew to take part in these immersive new experiences.

Once your grandchildren have constructed their lightsabers and droids, I think that these items will really add to their enjoyment of the land.  Be on the lookout for Disney PhotoPass Service photographers throughout Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.  Just think of the epic photos your grandchildren can pose for with their new lightsabers!  Your custom-built astromech droids from Droid Depot will be the perfect traveling companions as you explore Black Spire Outpost.  The droids will interact with other droids and certain Bluetooth enabled devices throughout Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.

For safety reasons, guests must carry their droids inside the theme parks.  However, once you return home, your grandchildren will be able to maneuver their droids around using their remote controls.  Imagine how much fun your grandchildren will have when they see their new BB-Series or R-Series droids rolling through their kitchen or down their driveway.  The droids' light and sounds effects will also still work at home.  In fact, if you build more than one droid during your visit, you may hear them interacting with each other even after you have left the theme parks.  Whether your grandchildren choose to display their custom lightsabers or play with them as they act out new Star Wars adventures at home, I'm sure they will be treasured souvenirs that will always remind them of your Walt Disney World Resort vacation.

May the Force be with you!
