We are taking out 3 grandchildren the first week of December to Disneyland and DCA. The two granddaughters are 7 and 9 and the grandson is 5. What kinds of unique experiences can we help them have there?

    Howdy, William!

It's always great to hear from a fellow Utahn planning a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth! Congratulations on planning this special trip for your grandchildren. The first week of December is such a magical time to visit, and you're going to make some unforgettable memories.

The holiday season at the Disneyland Resort is my favorite time to visit! There are so many unique experiences that are perfect for kids of all ages. One thing that absolutely cannot be missed is "it's a small world" Holiday. The classic "it's a small world" attraction gets a beautiful seasonal makeover inside and out with twinkling lights and a festive soundtrack. At night, the exterior of the attraction has a beautiful lighting moment that will dazzle your grandkids. In Disney California Adventure Park, be sure to head to Cars Land to see how they deck the "hauls" with all sorts of automotive-themed holiday decorations. The attractions there, like Luigi's Joy to the Whirl and Mater's Jingle Jamboree, get holiday overlays that are a ton of fun!

You'll also want to make sure you catch some of the incredible holiday entertainment. A Christmas Fantasy Parade is a classic, with Disney characters, toy soldiers, and even Santa Claus himself! Also, don't miss the "Believe...In Holiday Magic" fireworks spectacular at Disneyland Park. The best part? The "snow" that falls in certain areas of the park after the show! Your grandchildren will be absolutely delighted. For more information, you can always check the official Disneyland Resort website.

Another special way to make memories with your grandkids is by enjoying festive foods. Goofy's Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel and Storytellers Cafe at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel will feature special holiday character outfits and seasonally themed food for the holidays. The new Daisy's Holiday Pajama Party and Holiday Tea with Santa and Mrs. Claus look especially fun for little ones. These meals and experiences are a great way to meet some of your favorite characters without waiting in line, and the food is always delicious. Be sure to check out the Foodie Guides that the Disney Parks Blog publishes. Later in the Fall, I expect they will release a fresh guide for the 2025 Holiday season. It lists all the delicious and unique holiday treats available throughout the resort, and it's a great way to plan out all your must-eats.

I'm so excited for you and your family to experience the holidays at the Disneyland Resort. These are the kinds of trips that they will remember forever. Enjoy every magical moment with those grandkids, and please feel free to come back with any more questions you might have.

    See ya real soon, William!
